[Warning] Will you be charged after the Gemini free trial ends? A guide on how to cancel
When you try out Google’s AI service “Gemini”, a 1-month free trial is offered at first. Many people probably register thinking, “If it’s free, I’ll just give it a try for now”, but there is something you need to be aware of here.
What happens when the free trial ends?
When the trial period ends, you will automatically be charged 2,900 yen per month. This is tied to a subscription called “Google One Membership”, and if you don’t do anything in particular, it’s set up to transition to a recurring charge.
You won’t be charged if you cancel, but…
Of course, if you cancel during the trial, you will not be charged. The official explanation page also explains “How to cancel your Google One membership”.

However, when I actually accessed it, I found myself in a situation where “for some reason, I can’t cancel.” I was confused, wondering “Wait, where do I stop it from?”
Here is the correct way to cancel!
After looking into it, the page where I was actually able to cancel was the following:
👉 Google Account – Delete a service
If you select “Google One” from here and delete it, the cancellation is complete.
Summary
- The Gemini free trial is 1 month
- After it ends, you are automatically charged 2,900 yen per month
- You may not be able to cancel from the official explanation page
- The place you can actually cancel is the “Delete a service” page
If you think “It’s fine because it’s a free trial”, you might get charged without realizing it, so please be careful!
